Support our Troops
After we started seeing these yellow "support our troops" magnets popping up all over town, my wife and I decided that we should get some for our vehicles. I found that I could buy them at the local fire department, but I bought them from a friend who is a member of the VFW. They use the proceeds to send care packages to our troops in Iraq and Afghanastan. Since then, I have seen them for sale at Krogers and Walmart. I have to wonder if they are actually using the money they make to "support our troops", or if they are supporting their wallets.

You want to support the troops? Stop driving gas guzzling SUVs. Walk for a change. Stop using so much gas, and they wouldn't be over there in the first place.
What is walking have to do with greedy Walmart?
We sold them ribbons last year to raise money for the optimist club.We got them online for around a buck then sold em for 5.
Oh, do you think its a little late to hit the ribbon wagon?
Not sure I've seen the bracelets
Even if the money lines the pockets of the execs at Kroger (no "s"), having the magnet on your car shows others that you care about the soliders over there, and that good feeling is enough to justify the purchase. But if you really want to do something, send a care package or card to soldiers through one of those on-line services. It's free, and definitely goes to the soldiers.
As a SUV driving military member, you could do your part by having the state government ease the ridiculous taxes at the gas pump. Better yet, they should ease the gas tax and tax those restaurants that allow cigarette smoking. Oh, while your at it, give the Alaska oil refineries free reign to start drilling away so SUV's won't be an excuse to kill Sadam.
I agree! We need to support our troops not only in spirit but in little ways that mean a lot to them. Sending a care package is a good example.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I am just getting into all of this. Hopefully soon it will get a little easier. I love what you have done to yours!
here's a question.
wtf does 'support the troops' mean anyways?
seriously, i want to know cus it sounds like mindless nationalistic bullshit to me. you know, the sort of thing that is designed to passively weed out the no-goodnicks and other liberals.
ps. i'm posting ithis as 'anonymous' out of laziness...no blogger account.

If you really want to support the troops, get them out of a god damned warzone and back home to their families.
Support the guy making these clever antimagnet stickers instead.

Support our troops by bringing them home, selling your SUV for a hybrid, and lobbying for an increase in gas taxes and research into alternative fuels.
Where can one find a ribbon that shows that one doesn't support the troops?
