Better check your receipt!

A friend of the family recently went to TGI Fridays and purchased a gift card valued at $25, and used her credit card to buy it. Later on, she attempted to use her credit card for another purchase and the card was declined. What happend was, when she bought the gift card, they charged her $2500.00! This is currently all getting worked out now, but this type of thing may be prevented if we check our receipts!

Thanks for the tip! I don't usually go to TGIF but this advice is sound no matter where we use credit cards. It was probably an innocent mistake which caused your friend a whole lot of hassles.

Very interesting. Just goes to show how we should be careful for all the new conveniences we get in today's world. Recently a friend of mine gave his card to be charged, in a restaurant in Pune India, and after 15 days he got a call from Citibank asking him whether he had bought jewellery worth Rs 50000-00 (about US$ 1000-00). Ofcourse he had not; there was a network of people who were duplicating the card details when swiped. Luckily all were caught.
